Brick Port Dogs
Webcomics: Gaslight adventure and romance in a Steampunky, gently magical alternate-earth Portland…
I really enjoyed Elizabeth “Glowcat” Malloy‘s Deviant Art gallery. Her output isn’t huge, and is mostly tattoos, but her finished pieces are a lot of fun–she does, for instance, a pretty good werewolf. I discovered Glowcat on Patreon, where she was launching her comic project, Brick Port Dogs.
BPD is a high-production-value webcomic, with beautiful pencil art pages. Unfortunately it’s a very slow comic–not surprising given the amount of detail in each page. Worth the wait, but here’s hoping the author can find more time to work on this project!
BPD’s set in a steampunky, goblin-infested version of Portland, the artist’s former stomping grounds. Many of the characters are anthropomorphic in small and large ways, some nearly human, others more obviously animalistic. I am assured by the artist that this important and meaningful, but she hasn’t dealt that card yet. The world has some spiritual and magical elements, and it’s unfolding slowly–but at heart, it’s a story of love and adventure.
